# Context

> The shared business glossary your AI reads — the terms and planning numbers your team uses, written down once so every answer uses them.

The **Context** view is where you write down the words and numbers your business runs
on, so your AI tools answer in your language instead of guessing. It has two tabs:
**Terms** and **Variables**. You can search either by title, acronym, or description.

## Terms

A **term** is a piece of business vocabulary your agents should understand, for example
what your team means by "velocity", "run rate", or an internal acronym. Each term has a
title, an optional acronym, and a description written the way your team and your AI
should use it.

## Variables

A **variable** is a numeric planning input your agents should use, for example a target
weeks of cover or a case-pack size. Each variable has a title, an optional acronym, a
numeric value, a unit (like days, cases, or units/store/week), and a description of how
your AI should apply it. When the number changes, update it here and every answer picks
up the new value.

<Note>
  Anyone in the workspace can view Terms and Variables. Creating, editing, or deleting
  them needs the **Edit context** permission, granted through a
  [role](/context-layer/governance).
